Date Set for Clearwater Fire Lieutenant Civil Suit
A date has been scheduled for the civil trial between the City of Clearwater and a Female Fire Lieutenant who was passed over for a promotion on several occasions.
21 year veteran Fire Lieutenant Wendy Cason was passed over for a promotion after not being allowed to complete testing process due to a serious family illness.
Another male candidate was allowed to not only make up the testing process, but compete for the promotional spot.
The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission ruled that Clearwater did discriminate against Cason and awarded her the right to sue for damages.
The civil trial begins August 18th.

City of Clearwater Holds Poker Game to Decide Budget Cuts
This past April, the citizens of Clearwater were treated to a special poker game. No money was needed to play, as people gambled using chips that represetned a portion of the budget to be cut. Among these chips were firefighters and fire stations.
